Micro-Blaster™ -- Rock Removal System -- Easy to use.
Micro-Blaster™ is simple to use. There are no dangerous chemicals. Micro-Blaster™ utilizes a fast burning proprietary gas-producing cartridge to crack rock and masonry.
The Micro-Blaster™ system uses a proprietary gas-producing cartridge to fracture rocks and masonry weighing up to several tons. The charge is loaded into a 5/16-inch diameter, 10-inch deep hole bored into the material to be broken by standard rotary hammer drills. A 25-foot lanyard or hose remotely actuates the small explosion. The gas burns rapidly but only when contained within the material to be cracked. As soon as the rock cracks, the pressure is released, and the burn rate drops dramatically. This feature decreases danger from flying rock fragments, and virtually eliminates danger to surrounding structures from shock waves given the relatively slow propagation rate of the propellant contained within the cartridges. The Micro-Blaster system is lightweight (10 lbs) and inexpensive allowing it to substitute for the use of larger more expensive equipment.
Micro-Blaster™ is used by contractors, excavators, landscaper’s pool installers, masons, trench workers, rescue workers and other field workers to enable the efficient removal of boulders, concrete structures, and rock formations. Micro-Blaster™ tools are safe, easy to use when common sense and basic safety precautions are used. Micro-Blaster is designed to save time, labor and machinery costs for trench work, open excavations, and concrete demolition.
Micro-Blaster™ is a cost effective and affordable demolition system utilizing a fast burning proprietary gas-producing cartridge to crack rock and masonry. Micro-Blaster™ will deliver many years of worry free performance due to a minimal amount of moving parts associated with the assembly.

The MICRO-BLASTER I is a compact and affordable demolition system utilizing a fast burning proprietary gas producing cartridge to crack rock and masonry.
Operated remotely with a 25-foot pull cord, the MICRO-BLASTER I is safe and easy to use. Because of its low energy output, this system is usable in almost any environment. Requiring only a 5/16 inch diameter hole, 9 inches deep, the system can be employed without the need of expensive large hole drilling systems.
Assembled using hardened tool steel components, the MICRO-BLASTER I provides many years of trouble-free use and is easily serviced in the field with common hand tools.
Packaged in a durable and compact molded case (13.5 in.W x 10 in.D x 3.5 in. H), the MICRO-BLASTER Kit comes complete with a Micro-Blaster, hole blower, hex key, bull pins (for wedging apart cracked rock), release cord assembly and manual.

The Micro-Blaster II is a safe and economical system for the cracking of rock and masonry. The small size of the system allows it to be used in almost any location.
Capable of breaking rock or masonry of almost any size by successive blasts, the Micro-Blaster II does its job with almost no fly-rock, which can be completely eliminated with the use of light mats.
Pneumatically triggered from a 25 ft. distance, the system can be configured to allow multiple simultaneous shots using a variety of pressure sources including CO2 and compressed air.
Requiring only a 5/16 inch hole, 10 inches deep, the system allows the use of inexpensive drilling equipment, often a major capital expense for demolition work.
The durable molded case measures 15" x 12" x 6" and contains the Micro-Blaster II, a bore brush and bulb blower (for cleaning drilled holes), 2 tapered pins (for wedging apart cracked material), a CO2 bicycle inflator (for pressurizing the system), and instructions for safe use.
The Micro-Blaster II offers several improvements over the original Micro-Blaster.
- Triggered by 75 psi pressure pulse simplifying drilling strategy, freeing the user from the restraints of the lanyard activation of the original Micro-Blaster. Pressure sources can be either compressed air or CO2 cartridge technology.
- Intrinsic safety: The system cannot fire until remotely pressurized by the operator.
- Simultaneous firing of multiple Micro-Blaster II units which allows much larger masses to be cracked through the use of a manifold/valve assembly connecting multiple units.

The Micro-Blaster IIx3 (3 Head Kit) contains 3 Micro-Blaster II heads and a 3 way manifold/valve assembly to allow the simultaneous triggering of 1,2 or 3 heads. This assembly comes with a small padlock and key to lock out the system rendering it unfirable between shots greatly adding to safety. The Micro-Blaster IIx3 will allow users to break much larger masses of rock or concrete than with just the single head models.
Users will need to supply a source of compressed air or CO2 (minimum 75 psi, 7 gallon portable air tank recommended) to trigger their systems. If working in remote areas a "T" handle bicycle pump and our 1/2 gal aluminum air tank will allow for a very portable triggering system. Note that you will need to outfit your air source with a quick coupler (1/4" Industrial Interchange) to connect to the hose on the MB IIx3 Manifold/Valve to your air source.

SDS+ DRILL BITS FOR MICRO-BLASTER I & II
Many of our customers have had problems finding the proper 5/16" dia. drill bits for their Micro-Blaster Systems. We now stock 2 models which will produce the required holes. The shorter of the 2 models shown above will drill up to 12" deep holes for double cartridge shots and is marked with a red stripe at 10" from the tip for single cartridge shots. The longer bit pictured has the capability of drilling up to 16" deep which will allow users the option of using 1, 2, 3, or up to 4 cartridges per shot. This bit also has a longer lasting carbide tip which should give excellent service in even the hardest materials. |
